Friday’s are incredibly exciting here at the Warner Music South Africa office. New Music Fridays is a day when all new releases hit digital and physical stores around the world. Every week, we will showcase some of our exciting releases right here on our website as we help you get your weekend playlist sorted. These are what new releases you should check out this week:

Grouplove – Big Mess

American indie rockers, Grouplove, are back! They drop their highly-anticipated third studio album this week which features their new smash hit ‘Welcome To My Life’. ‘Big Mess’ features 11 banging singles and sees the group challenge themselves more than ever before. If there’s one album you need to be listening to today, it’s this!

Disturbed – The Sound Of Silence (Live On CONAN)

It’s probably one of the biggest cover tracks released this year. Disturbed gave their own spin on Simon and Garfunkel’s smash hit ‘The Sound Of Silence’ earlier this year and has become one of the band’s biggest hits to date. This week, a live recording of the track was released – and it’s bound to give you goosebumps!

Brad Mehladu & Joshua Redman – Nearness

Saxophonist Joshua Redman and pianist Brad Mehldau have teamed up for their beatiful new album ‘Nearness’. Nearness, a selection of duets recorded live during their recent European tour, is a sonically captivating record which is bound to move you. The duo has had a long history together and their relationship is evident in the music they make. This is definitely a record you should check out this week.

Wilco – Schmilco

‘Schmilco’ is a milestone release from Canadian rockers Wilco. It serves as the 10th studio album from the band and is a wonderful collection of tracks. The band change things up a little bit on this album, which drops just over a year after the release of their previous album ‘Star Wars’. The album’s name is a nod to the Harry Nilsson album Nilsson Schmilsson. The artwork was created by illustrator Joan Cornellà in collaboration with Stefania Lusini.

The Head & The Heart – Signs Of Light

They’ve been MIA for over a year but we’re pleased to announce that The Head & The Heart drop their new album ‘Signs Of Light’ today. The indie pop band dropped their new single ‘All We Ever Knew’ earlier this year to rave reviews. The band is fresh, exciting and ready for their time to shine. “This record feels like we’re coming together as a band,” says drummer Tyler Williams. This will definitely be on repeat at the office this week.

Knife Party & Tom Morello – Battle Sirens

You know when Knife Party release a track it’s going to be a banger. This time around, they’ve teamed up with Tom Morello on their new single ‘Battle Sirens’. The track is a hybrid between EDM and rock is the perfect track to get the party going this weekend. “Tom hit us up when we were in the studio saying he’d always loved the idea of merging his guitar riffs into the electronic world and we bounced some ideas back and forth until we had the final version,” Knife Party’s two members tell Rolling Stone. This is fire!
